Laxalt captures grand majority of Nevada’s elected Sheriffs and DAs; those entrusted by the voters to protect us and put criminals behind bars.

Reno, NV – Today, Republican nominee for Attorney General Adam Laxalt announced endorsements from the vast majority of Nevada District Attorneys who plan on issuing an endorsement in the Attorney General’s race.  As of today, 8 Nevada District Attorneys join the 15 of 17 elected Sheriffs who have already announced their support for Laxalt. The District Attorneys in Nevada serve as the top elected prosecutors in each county, while the Sheriffs serve as the top law enforcement officers.  One Chief Deputy District Attorney who will be elected District Attorney in November is also endorsing Laxalt, as well as a former United States Attorney.

Washoe County District Attorney Dick Gammick stated:

“Adam Laxalt has a distinguished background and the broad legal experience that uniquely qualifies him to be the next Attorney General of Nevada.  Washoe County voters and all Nevadans can rest assured that Adam is tenacious and will fight vigorously to protect our families and defend our state’s laws and our Constitution.  I am proud to endorse Adam, a fellow military veteran, and I urge all Nevadans to support his candidacy.”

Former U.S. Attorney & Current Storey County District Attorney William Maddox:

"Adam Laxalt will be a phenomenal Attorney General for the residents of Nevada.  As the former United States Attorney of Nevada and current District Attorney of Storey County, I know how important it is to have an experienced, pragmatic, and responsible yet tough leader guiding prosecutorial agencies like the Attorney General's office.  I am certain that Adam Laxalt has all of those qualities – which will make him a great Attorney General.  Like many others in law-enforcement, I look forward to collaborating with Adam on new and innovative ways to help protect Nevada's most vulnerable and ensuring that criminals get justice.  Because of his sterling career as a Naval JAG officer and breadth of legal experience, I am confident in Adam's ability to uphold our laws and our Constitution."

Churchill County District Attorney Arthur “Art” Mallory:

“Adam Laxalt will serve Nevadans in the same manner he served our nation - with honor and distinction.  His wide-ranging legal experience, which includes time as a US Navy JAG officer, will be an asset to the Office of Attorney General.  Further, I applaud his eagerness to work with me and other Nevada District Attorneys to aggressively fight domestic violence crime in our state.  As a veteran of our nation’s military, I am proud to endorse Adam and I urge voters across our state to vote Laxalt this November.”

Eureka County District Attorney Theodore “Ted” Beutel:

“The Office of Nevada Attorney General needs a shot in the arm and I believe Adam Laxalt has the attitude, experience and perspective to give it.  I strongly endorse his candidacy and urge Nevada’s voters to support him, as well.”

Adam Laxalt released the following statement regarding today’s announcement:

“It is an honor to have the majority of Nevada’s top prosecutors endorsing my candidacy for Attorney General.  Each of these individuals know of my commitment to help our local law enforcement and prosecutors gain the time, attention and resources they need to combat crime and protect our state’s most vulnerable citizens. Their support adds to the momentum of our campaign and I look forward to working with through November and beyond.”

The District Attorneys announcing their endorsement of Adam Laxalt for Attorney General consist of Arthur “Art” E. Mallory (Churchill County), Theodore “Ted” Beutel (Eureka County), Mark B. Jackson (Douglas County), Robert Glennen, III (Esmeralda County), Daniel Hooge (Lincoln County), Bryce Shields (Pershing County)*, William Maddox (Storey County), Richard Gammick (Washoe County), and Kelly C. Brown (White Pine County).

* Jim Shirley is the current District Attorney running for judge, thus preventing him from endorsing any candidates for public office.  Bryce Shields is the current Pershing County Chief Deputy District Attorney running unopposed for District Attorney, and he has endorsed Laxalt.
